Pictures & Trail Comments:

This is a picture of the road that takes you to the extended mesa.  From here you can access Sam's Mesa springs and other interesting features including the canyon rim that overlooks the Dirty Devil River.  Those are the Henry Mountains in the background.  Hanksville, Utah is just to the right of the base of those mountains about 5 to 7 miles.

This is part of the trail/road system beyond the road above and to the right down in the valley.  In this picture, if you will look below and to the left of the knob that is the left of the Jeep, you will see what I refer to as the 3 stallions a close up of which I have provided for you below.

This is what I call the 3 Stallions because if you look at it closely (and long enough) you might see 3 horses heads.  Anyway, call it what you want, the road system actually goes right beside this formation on its way out to the outer mesa rim that overlooks the Dirty Devil River.

Here's a shot of our campsite which provides a wonderful vantage point of Happy Canyon and the Henry Mountains.

There are many other pictures I could have provided to expand the scope of the trails on Sam's Mesa, but I'll leave that for you and your trip there.
